How To Order PCB

S9014 Transistor

The S9014 transistor is a common NPN Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) designed for small-signal, low-noise amplification applications.

It’s widely used in circuits where you need to amplify a weak signal, particularly in the audio frequency (AF) range.

Key Characteristics

  • Type: NPN (Negative-Positive-Negative) Bipolar Junction Transistor.
  • Primary Application: Pre-Amplifier, Low-Level & Low-Noise amplification, especially for audio signals.
  • Complementary Transistor: Its PNP counterpart is typically the S9015. They are often used together in complementary circuit designs (like push-pull amplifiers).
  • Package: Most commonly found in the TO-92 plastic package (through-hole mounting), or the smaller SOT-23 package (surface mount).
  • DC Current Gain: It has a high current gain, typically ranging from 60 to 1000 (classified into ranks like A, B, C, D or L, H). This high gain is a key feature for amplifying weak signals.

Pinout (TO-92 Package)

When looking at the flat face of the TO-92 package, the pins are typically:

  • Pin 1: Emitter (E)
  • Pin 2: Base (B)
  • Pin 3: Collector (C)

Common Applications

Due to its high gain and low-noise characteristics, the S9014 is used in various low-power electronic circuits:

  • Audio Preamplifiers: To boost weak audio signals before they reach the main power amplifier stage.
  • Low-Frequency Amplifiers: General signal amplification in the low to medium frequency range.
  • Signal Processing Circuits: For amplifying small signals from sensors or other sources.
  • Switching Circuits: Used for switching low-power loads (less than 100mA), such as driving LEDs or small relays.

Is there a specific application or characteristic of the S9014 you’d like to explore further, such as its use in a particular circuit?
